ABOUT US

The Asia Pacific Network of Science & Technology Centres (ASPAC) is an association of science centres, museums and related organisations, with a regional focus on the Asia Pacific region.

ASPAC draws its membership from over twenty countries and administrative regions in Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Middle East and North America.

The ASPAC network serves and links its members across the region by:

  • sharing information on the wide range of activities of member organisations

  • organising conferences, seminars and workshops for the professional development of staff of member organisations

  • arranging staff exchanges and study visits to encourage the sharing of knowledge and skills between member science centres and museums

  • providing technical assistance to member organisations, including new and developing science centres and museums

  • facilitating the exchange of exhibitions between member science centres and museums

  • providing a focus for inquiries by members and others on regional trends and developments in interactive science and technology exhibitions and programs

  • working with commercial companies and specialist organisations to further the development of science centres and museums in the region

  • liaising with and contributing to relevant international networks and organisations for the mutual benefit of strengthening the role and impact of science centres and museums in furthering the public understanding of science and technology

For these member organisations, ASPAC provides a forum for interaction with peers, vendors and clients. The annual ASPAC Conference is the primary opportunity to meet, network, share information and do business with industry partners in the region and beyond. This conference is hosted by a different Full Member institution each year.

In addition to the conference, the network facilitates seminars and workshops for the professional development of staff of member organisations, as well as collaborations for content development, and the exchange and coordination of travelling exhibitions.

ASPAC also provides a focus for inquiries by members and others on its membership and regional developments in science communication, and it represents its members as a collective towards other international networks and relevant organisations.
