ONTARIO SCIENCE CENTRE
Mission
To delight, inform and challenge visitors through engaging and thought-provoking experiences in science and technology.
Date Opened
1969
Activity Summary
Over its 41 year history, the Ontario Science Centre has created a multitude of visitor offerings that have included individual experiences, small and large scale exhibitions and unique exhibit designs. This has all been done while continuing to maintain our own institution and its world-class reputation as well as our strong connections to the local community and cultures.
At the time of its opening, the Centre was a radical departure from most museums. Unlike the static, artifact-based museums, the Centre was designed to be ‘hands-on’. It was a place where children and adults could touch, play with, explore and learn about the science of their daily lives. We use science as a lens to transform the way in which people see and think about the world around them, customizing science and technology experiences. Since opening its doors in 1969, over 44 million visitors have participated in the excitement and innovativeness of the OSC.
