Bringing STEM Education to Sabah: Petrosains Discovery Rover Empowers Rural and Remote Communities

ree

Dear ASPAC family,

We are pleased and delighted to announce that Petrosains is reaching out to communities and students through our latest outreach initiative, the Petrosains Discovery Rover, in rural and remote areas of Sabah. Affectionately known as the "The Land Below the Wind," Sabah is located on the northern portion of the island of Borneo and famed for its breathtaking natural beauty, rich cultural diversity, and abundant wildlife.

The Petrosains Discovery Rover features a mobile exhibition truck that brings interactive exhibits and engaging activities designed to spark interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education among students, while also equipping teachers with the necessary tools and techniques to enhance STEM delivery in classrooms.

Driven by a commitment to advancing diversity and inclusivity in STEM education, Petrosains is dedicated to democratising access to science and technology education, with a clear mission to spark interest, open up opportunities, and ultimately help individuals realise their full potential in STEM education.

The Petrosains Discovery Rover initiative continues to support our purpose of providing inclusive access to education, driving STEM literacy and empowering future talent, especially in rural and underserved communities.

The initiative is expected to benefit more than 5,000 students statewide. This effort complements Petrosains’ long-standing presence in the state through its satellite centre, Petrosains PlaySmart Kota Kinabalu, which has welcomed over 1 million visitors since its inception in 2012.

Looking ahead, Petrosains is committed to being a learning catalyst for change, ensuring that more children have opportunities to explore, innovate, and reach their full potential. We welcome our ASPAC family to join hands with us in expanding STEM opportunities, fostering young innovators, and cultivating a generation of global citizens prepared to lead in the digital and innovation-driven world.

Together, let us ignite curiosity, nurture young talent, and drive meaningful change through STEM education, shaping a brighter and more inclusive future for all.
