Petrosains Tech4All participants clinch Gold in the Junior Creative Category (Technic) at the 26th International Robot Olympiad in Busan, South Korea

Dear ASPAC family,

Petrosains is incredibly proud to share that our Petrosains Tech4All program participants have made history by winning Gold in the Junior Creative Category (Technic) at the 26th International Robot Olympiad in Busan, South Korea. This marks a significant achievement for the team of three Indigenous students from a small village in Pekan, Pahang, who represented Malaysia on the global stage, demonstrating their innovation, creativity, and technical excellence in robotics and sustainability.

The students' journey began with Petrosains Tech4All, an initiative designed to democratise STEM education and robotics learning, particularly for Indigenous students across Malaysia. Through hands-on robotics training and future-focused learning in coding, programming, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and IR 4.0 technologies, the program has equipped Indigenous students with critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills essential for the digital era. By fostering their curiosity, creativity, and confidence in technology, the initiative ensures these young learners are prepared for the evolving demands of the global innovation landscape.

Building on this foundation, the students who excelled in and won Petrosains Tech4All then went on to participate in Petrosains RBTX Challenge 2024, competing under the newly introduced sub-category, Innovation: Indigenous Culture & Technology. This competition further strengthened and enhanced their knowledge and skills, challenging them to leverage STEM knowledge to create sustainable solutions, which showcased their creativity and ingenuity.

Following their success in Petrosains RBTX Challenge 2024, the team received an invitation from the International Robot Olympiad Committee to compete in the 26th International Robot Olympiad. The competition, established in 1999, serves as one of the world’s most prominent youth robotics contests, encouraging participants to exchange ideas, hone their problem-solving skills, and innovate for the future. While competing against top teams from around the world, these students showcased both their technical abilities and the transformative impact of inclusive STEM education.

At Petrosains, we believe that STEM learning should be accessible to all, breaking barriers and creating pathways for young talents, regardless of their background, to thrive. By empowering Indigenous students with foundational STEM education and hands-on experiences, we are fostering a future-ready generation equipped with industry-relevant skills to contribute to national and global advancements. We wish to highlight the power and impact of experiential learning in nurturing problem-solvers and innovators who can shape a sustainable and technologically advanced future.

Looking ahead, Petrosains is committed to being a learning catalyst for change, ensuring that more children, from all walks of life, have opportunities to explore, innovate, and reach their full potential. We welcome our ASPAC family to join hands with us in expanding STEM opportunities, fostering young innovators, and cultivating a generation of global citizens prepared to lead in the digital and innovation-driven world.

Together, let’s ignite curiosity, nurture young talent, and drive meaningful change through STEM education, shaping a brighter and more inclusive future for all.
