National Science Museum Thailand invites you to the "Save the World to Sustainably Feed the Future" International Photo Competition 2023
Since the environmental crisis inevitably affects world food production, resulting in an increase in poverty and hunger in many nations, the United Nations General Assembly has declared 2023 the International Year of Millets (IYM 2023). The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) led other relevant organizations and bodies of the United Nations (UN) to promote increased cultivation of millets, as they can grow on arid lands with minimal adjustments and are resilient to changes in climate. This declaration evinces food security problems that affect the quality of life and wellbeing of the world's population. To respond to the problems, the National Science Museum, Thailand (NSM Thailand), in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Network of Science & Technology Centres (ASPAC), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN Thailand), the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC), and the Thailand Biodiversity Network Alliance (B-DNA Thailand), have launched the 2023 International Photo Competition (IPC) titled, "Save the World to Sustainably Feed the Future."
This event is the third year of a continuous international program set up to provide people around the world with a platform, encouraging them to share their perspectives on addressing urgent social and environmental issues through photography. The event also aims to strengthen citizen science and environmental consciousness, both in thoughts and actions, among the global population. This year, in response to the food security problems mentioned above, the IPC event focuses on encouraging people from all over the world to share their ideas to raise public awareness and invite people from all sectors to work together to solve world food security problems in a considerate and sustainable way.
As we believe in the power and willingness of humanity to save our home planet and sustain food for our future generations, the competition is open to everyone from every corner of the world to convey their messages through photography, as well as the photo's accompanying title and description, to raise public awareness and encourage collaboration from the public in conserving nature and the environment for sustainably feeding the future. The contest will award people one of the great opportunities for learning experiences and sharing various perspectives on saving the world to address world food security issues.
